About the Diverse Alliances for Prosperity (DAP) Award
The DAP Award was created by Brothers in Public Health Inc., a nonprofit committed to uplifting men of color in the public health space. This scholarship helps bridge the representation gap and supports your educational journey.

To apply, you must:

Identify as a male of color

Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate, graduate, or professional public health (or related) program in the United States

Undergraduate: 12+ credit hours

FAQs
Do I have to be a member to apply for the BIPH DAP Award?
While becoming a student member is encouraged, it is not a requirement to apply for the BIPH DAP Award.
Is there a character count or word count for letter of recommendation?
There is no character count or word count for the letter of recommendation. We will accept any length of LOR; however, ensure it speaks to your abilities and aptitude for public health.
Who should submit the letter of recommendation - the applicant or the LOR writer?
Either the applicant or the LOR writer can submit the LOR. There is space to submit in the application or you can have the LOR writer email us at hello@brosinpublichealth.org with your LOR (please note in your application that your LOR will be sent via email from your LOR writer).
Who is the ideal person to be a letter of recommendation writer?
Your LOR writer can be anyone that can speak to academic integrity, leadership skills, and/or commitment to public health. This could be a professor, advisor, preceptor, supervisor, boss, etc.
Is there a minimum GPA average to apply?
No – not at all. There is no GPA requirement. We are open to diverse candidates regardless of GPA.
How will the funds be disbursed to the award recipient?
Funds will be disbursed directly to the student’s college or university.
